Phannapast Taychamaythakool Thai

Phannapast Taychamaythakool is a Thai artist/illustrator who tells her personal stories through her drawings of animal characters and flowers. Phannapast graduated from Chulalongkorn University, Bangkok, Thailand with a Fashion Design degree. After she graduated, she worked with Thai fashion brands, while at the same time, continuing her love for drawing and handcrafts. After following her dream as an artist, her works were discovered by Alessandro Michele, the creative director of Gucci. Phannapast then started to collaborate with Gucci for many projects including; GucciTian, The Fairy Tale book for Le Marché de Merveilles collection, Bloom Acqua di Fiori, DIY sneakers, etc. 

Phannapast’s works always tell the stories of her personal life. She uses different personalities of animals to represent her feelings at the time. Her animal characters are always doing something and telling some stories from their world. Phannapast often gets her inspiration from her surroundings. This includes her upbringing in a Thai-Chinese family, in which she always passes on the love of her culture into the work. In the work ‘I wrapped myself up with all the flowers to hide from you forever’ depicts a fantasy world where different kind of animals are wrapped up and surrounded by nature and varieties of plant, covered up and hidden them from the sight.    

ปัณพัท เตชเมธากุล (ยูน) จบการศึกษาระดับปริญญาตรีจากสาขาการออกแบบแฟชั่น จุฬาลงกรณ์มหาวิทยาลัย หลังจากจบการศึกษา เธอทำงานกับแบรนด์แฟชั่นไทยมากมาย ขณะเดียวกันก็พัฒนางานวาดและงานแฮนด์คราฟต์ควบคู่ไปด้วย ระหว่างการทำงานในฐานะศิลปินของปัณพัท Alessandro Michele ผู้กำกับศิลป์ของแบรนด์ Gucci ได้มารู้จักงานของเธอ ปัณพัทจึงได้เริ่มทำงานร่วมกับ Gucci ในหลายโปรเจกต์ อาทิ  GucciTian, คอลเล็คชั่น The Fairy Tale book for Le Marché de Merveilles,  Bloom Acqua di Fiori, DIY sneakers, และ Gucci Art Wall ในโซโห นิวยอร์ก

 งานของปัณพัทบอกเล่าเรื่องราวส่วนตัวในชีวิตโดยใช้ตัวตนของสัตว์หลากหลายชนิดเพื่อแสดงถึงสภาวะอารมณ์ ณ ขณะนั้น สิงสาราสัตว์ของเธอจะกระทำบางอย่างในภาพเพื่อบอกเล่าเรื่องราวในโลกที่พวกเขาอาศัยอยู่ เธอมักจะใส่ใจในรายละเอียดของการวาด ทั้งสีสัน และทั้งจุดเด่นของรูปภาพ เธอได้แรงบันดาลใจบ่อยครั้งมาจากสิ่งแวดล้อม ซึ่งรวมไปถึงการเติบโตในครอบครัวคนไทยเชื้อสายจีน โดยปัณพัทได้ถ่ายทอดสิ่งนี้เสมอในงานของเธอด้วย ในผลงาน I wrapped myself up with all the flowers to hide from you forever ถ่ายทอดโลกแฟนตาซีที่เหล่าตัวตนของสัตว์แต่ละชนิดถูกห่อหุ้มและห้อมล้อมไปด้วยแมกไม้และธรรมชาติ ปกปิดและหลบซ่อนจากสายตาผู้คนไปตลอดกาล
