Komkrit Thepthian Thai, b. 1985

Komkrit Tepthian was born in Suphanburi in 1985 and his current residence is in Bangkok, Thailand. He graduated a Bachelor’s degree from the Department of Fine Arts, the School of Architecture, Art and Design, King Mongkut's Institute of Technology Ladkrabang (KTMIL) and Master’s degree in Sculpting from Faculty of Painting, Sculpture and Graphic Arts, Silpakorn University. He currently works as an independent artist and special lecturer for Bachelor of Fine Arts program in Sculpture and Sculpture for Society, KTMIL.

Inspired by growing up in an environment surrounded by archaeological sites and antiques, his work reflects his ideology to preserve the cultural heritages with his style of art which is the combination of sculpting, installation art and techniques from contemporary art to make his works blend in with the art exhibition space.

Komkrit participated in international exhibitions and conferences including “KENPOKU ART” in Daigo, Ibaraki, Japan 2016; “Diversity Voice” at Tadu - Thaiyarnyon Contemporary Art, Bangkok 2016; “International Sand Art festival” in Vientiane, Laos 2015; selected to be in the 1st Early Years Project organized by BACC in 2018 and participated in an international art exhibition “Bangkok Art Biennale” in 2018.

His work “Castor & Pollux” reveals the history of the relationship between Thailand and France, by reconstructing that relationship through the memoirs dwelled inside the beast and artifact tributes.

The values, meanings and feelings contained in those tributes have been transforming into another alternative set of truths under the wheel of time and the changing point of view which evolving from the past to the current era. The feelings that dwelled inside those tributes dissolved into shape, color, weight and otherness.

คมกฤษ เทพเทียน เกิดเมื่อปี พ.ศ. 2528 ที่จังหวัดสุพรรณบุรี ปัจจุบันพำนักและทำงานอยู่ที่จังหวัดกรุงเทพฯ ประเทศไทย

คมกฤษจบการศึกษาปริญญาตรีจากคณะสถาปัตยกรรมศาสตร์ ภาควิชาวิจิตรศิลป์ สถาบันเทคโนโลยีพระจอมเกล้าเจ้าคุณทหารลาดกระบัง (สจล.) และปริญญาโทจากคณะจิตรกรรมประติมากรรมและภาพพิมพ์ วิชาเอกประติมากรรม มหาวิทยาลัยศิลปะ ปัจจุบันเป็นศิลปินอิสระ และอาจารย์พิเศษประจำสาขาวิชาประติมากรรม สจล. ด้วยความที่เขาเติบโตมาในสภาพแวดล้อมที่เต็มไปด้วยโบราณสถานและโบราณวัตถุ ทำให้ผลงานประติมากรรมของศิลปินสะท้อนแนวความคิดในการอนุรักษ์มรดกวัฒนธรรมในภาษาศิลปะของตนเอง ซึ่งประกอบรวมเข้าด้วยกันระหว่างความเป็นงานประติมากรรมและศิลปะจัดวางด้วยวัสดุและเทคนิคจากยุคร่วมสมัย ให้เข้ากับบริบทของพื้นที่จัดแสดง คมกฤษได้เข้าร่วมแสดงนิทรรศการและการประชุมสัมมนาระดับนานาชาติ เช่น KENPOKU ART 2016 (Daigo-Ibaarki, ญี่ปุ่น, 2559) Diversity Voice (หอศิลป์ตาดูไทยยานยนตร์, กรุงเทพฯ, 2559) International Sand Art festival (เวียงจันทร์, ลาว, 2558) ได้รับการคัดเลือกเข้าร่วมโครงการ Early Years Project ครั้งที่ 1 จัดโดย หอศิลปวัฒนธรรมแห่งกรุงเทพมหานคร, ปีพ.ศ. 2561 และเข้าร่วมเทศกาลศิลปะนานาชาติ Bangkok Art Biennale 2018    

ผลงาน Castor & Pollux ได้หยิบเอาช่วงเวลาหนึ่ง ในความสัมพันธ์ทางประวัติศาสตร์ระหว่างประเทศไทยและประเทศฝรั่งเศสมาร้อยเรียง ปะติดปะต่อขึ้นใหม่ ความสัมพันธ์ที่ถูกบันทึกผ่านเครื่องราชบรรณาการที่เป็นสัตว์และสิ่งของการแปรเปลี่ยนไปของเรื่องเล่าทางสังคม ผลักดันให้ทุกอย่างแปรเปลี่ยน ความรู้สึก และความหมายที่ถูกเก็บไว้ในเครื่องราชบรรณาการเหล่านั้น ถูกเปลี่ยนความสำคัญไปสู่ความจริงอีกชุดหนึ่ง ความรู้สึกที่แสดงผ่านวัตถุ ได้เคลื่อนที่ไป เหลือไว้แต่รูปทรง สีสัน น้ำหนัก และความเป็นอื่น
