Art Cart 02: Big blue marble

Big blue marble is a project that explores nature through the lens of eleven contemporary Thai artists, which seeks to understand and interpret nature in mysterious way. The exhibition invites the viewer to join in the exploration of the world that we live in which is being consumed rapidly by the need for resources. It is through human action that our world is being polluted yet still beauty for us to discover and look forward to caring for.

The beauty of the world has been intrinsic since the very beginning. The work of Noppanan Tannaree, Wittawat Tongkeaw, Natalia Avdeeva, and Praiya Ketkul displays the easily tangible allure of through interpreting what nature offers with the technique of painting. Their paintings draw on the subtleties of nature, rather than the at times grandiose displays of power and beautiful which can be found. These painting are a presentation that we see and enjoy every day.

A rock collection was the foundation to create art in the works of Gi-ok Jeon and Song Xi. Both artists saw poetry in nature. Coloring and recording the meaning of the inscription on the preceding stone allows us to see small things from nature that has inspired human beings. We have seen human efforts to connect with nature. Even on a small rock it is telling an impressive story to us.

The painting by Akira Ishiguro appear to be abstract works, but in fact were inspired by the structure of stone. His works imitate the characteristics of a flowing mineral in a specific way. Inside rocks are beautiful creations that can be found in this very simply natural object.

Kanchalee Ngamdamronk's works on indigo-dyed fabrics and natural colors are also another work inspired by nature. The artist has created a collage of dye patterns so that her work tells of the coexistence between humans and nature.

Niam Mawornkanong surreal painting also speaks of the wonders of nature. Drawing on a surely boundless boundless imagination the work of Imhathai Suwattanasilp and Thidarat Chantachua has shown the symbol of the nature through the human intellect. It is also a strong confirmation that belief and knowledge of humans are all inspired by nature.

This exhibition will look at the world in which we live from a wide angle. It also made us aware of deserting the ego by seeing our place in this vast world and contemplating the wonderful nature all around us.

A curated presentation “Art Cart 02: Big blue marble” will be held on the first and second floor of Gallery Bldg., SAC Gallery from 9 March until 30 April 2021.

Big blue marble เป็นโปรเจคที่พูดถึงทรรศนะการมองธรรมชาติ ผ่านวิธีคิดของศิลปินไทยทั้ง 11 คน ที่ซึ่งศิลปะได้ทำความเข้าใจ และตีความธรรมชาติออกมาอย่างเร้นลับ ชวนให้ค้นหา และทำให้เราได้รู้ว่า โลกใบนี้ที่เราอาศัยอยู่แม้จะถูกใช้ทรัพยากรอย่างมหาศาล มลพิษที่เกิดขึ้นจากน้ำมือมนุษย์ ยังมีความงามให้เราค้นพบและรอคอยการถูกดูแลเอาใจใส่ ความงดงามของโลกนั้นคือพื้นฐานที่มีมาแต่แรกเริ่ม ผลงานของ นพนันท์ ทันนารี, วิทวัส ทองเขียว, Natalia Avdeeva และไปรยา เกตุกูล ได้แสดงถึงความงามที่สามารถจับต้องได้อย่างง่ายดาย เพียงการมองธรรมชาติที่แสนธรรมดาและตีความออกมาด้วยเทคนิคของการวาดภาพ จิตรกรรมของพวกเขาสื่อสารความละเอียดอ่อนของธรรมชาติที่ไม่ใช่แง่มุมที่ยิ่งให้แต่อย่างใด ผลงานจิตรกรรมที่งดงามนี้เป็นการนำเสนอส่งที่เราล้วยพบเห็นและเกิดขึ้นในทุกๆ วัน 

การเก็บก้อนหินมาเพื่อสร้างสรรค์งานศิลปะในผลงานของ Gi-ok Jeon และ Song Xi ทั้งสองศิลปินได้มองเห็นบทกวีจากธรรมชาติ การระบายสีและการบันทึกความหมายจารึกลงบนก่อนหิน ทำให้เราได้เห็นสิ่งเล็กๆ จากธรรมชาติที่ได้สร้างแรงบันดาลใจต่อมนุษย์ เราได้เห็นความพยายามของมนุษย์ในการเชื่อมต่อกับธรรมชาติ บนก้อนหินเล็กๆ ที่แข็งแกร่งนี้ ดูราวกับกำลังเล่าเรื่องราวอันน่าประทับใจให้กับเราได้สัมผัสด้วยการเห็น แม้แต่ผลงานจิตรกรรมของ Akira Ishiguro เอง แม้จะดูเหมือนจิตรกรรมนามธรรมที่ซับซ้อน แต่ก็ได้รับแรงบันดาลใจมาจากโครงสร้างของหินนั่นเอง ผลงานของเขากล่าวได้ว่าเลียนแบบลักษณะเฉพาะของแร่ที่เลื่อนไหลอย่างมีรูปแบบเฉพาะ อยู่ภายในก้อนหิน เป็นโครสร้างที่งดงามและค้นพบได้ในธรรมชาติที่แสนธรรมดานี้เอง 

นอกจากนี้ผลงานบนผ้าย้อมครามและสีจากธรรมชาติของ กรรณชลี งามดำรงค์ ก็ยังเป็นอีกหนึ่งผลงานสร้างสรรค์ที่ได้แรงบันดาลใจจากธรรมชาติ ศิลปินได้รังสรรค์ลวดลาย ย้อม ตัดปะ เพื่อให้ผลงานของเธอได้บอกเล่าถึงการอยู่ร่วมกับระหว่างมนุษย์และธรรมชาติ นอกจากนี้ แรงบันดาลใจที่ธรรมชาติให้กับเราอย่างไม่สิ้นสุด ยังปรากฏในผลงานจิตรกรรมเหนือจริงของ เนียม มะวรคนอง ที่พูดถึงความน่าอัศจรรย์ของธรรมชาติ ในสถานการณี่หลุดออกมาจากจินตนาการอันไร้ขอบเขต นอกจากนี้ผลงานของ อิ่มหทัย สุวัฒนศิลป์ และ ธิดารัตน์ จันทเชื้อ ที่ได้แสดงสัญลักษณ์ของธรรมผ่านภูมิปัญหาของมนุษย์ ยังเป็นสิ่งที่ยืนยันได้อย่างดีว่า ความเชื่อ องค์ความรู้ของมนุษย์นั้นล้วนบันดาลใจมาจากธรรมชาติ

นิทรรศการพิเศษในครั้งนี้แม้จะเป็นการมองโลกที่เราอาศัยอยู่จากมุมกว้าง แต่ก็ทำให้เราตระหนักได้ถึงการวางอัตตาและพินิจในธรรมชาติที่น่ามหัศจรรย์นี้
