The Place of Memories: curated by Patticha Thitithammaporn from Start! Art Curator program

In this day and age, technology can help people to connect and communicate over social media platforms, creating a parallel community that allows for the exchange of information, regardless of place and time. Anybody can freely access knowledge and, sometimes, private information of others, whose traces of digital footprints get left behind in the digital world. These footprints create another identity of a person, separating the unity between the real and the digital world as the analogue memories slowly become transferred to the binary numbers system of the digital memory space.

The exhibition, “The place of memories”, explores the relationship between information sets that are stored in an “abstract space”, connecting through different activities that happen in the online world. Tewprai Bualoi, Thanawat Numcharoen and Vacharanont Sinvaravatn are three artists that produce their art through the use of new media, incorporating equipment and digital technology as raw materials that seek to draw the line of relationship between the digital self and the information set that is a part of their experience or memories. Their identity online and the physical world are paradoxical and separate from each other, which led to this exhibition to explore the definition of “self” through their memories and contemporary art.

This exhibition is the result of the program, Start! Art Curator, which is a project to promote new curators to learn about curatorial practice through the course of creating an exhibition with a professional curator at SAC Gallery.

The exhibition “The place of memories” will be held on the third floor of Art Centre Bldg., SAC Gallery from 24 April until 12 June 2021. The official opening ceremony will be held on 30 April 2021, 6:00PM onwards.

เทคโนโลยีในปัจจุบันเชื่อมโยงผู้คนเข้าด้วยกันผ่านการติดต่อสื่อสารบนโซเชียลแพลตฟอร์มต่างๆ สร้างชุมชนคู่ขนานที่ทำให้เกิดการแลกเปลี่ยนชุดข้อมูลมหาศาลอย่างไม่จำกัดพื้นที่และเวลา ผู้คนเข้าถึงและเป็นเจ้าของข้อมูลต่างๆ ได้อย่างอิสระ ทิ้งดิจิทัลฟุตพริ้นท์ไว้เป็นร่องรอยที่ไม่สูญสลายหายไปจากโลกดิจิทัล กลายเป็นตัวตนของบุคคลซึ่งทับซ้อนและไม่เป็นอันหนึ่งอันเดียวกันระหว่างตัวตนบนโลกความเป็นจริงและตัวตนบนโลกดิจิทัล เปลี่ยนแปลงจากความทรงจำแอนะล็อกไปสู่ความทรงจำดิจิทัลในรูปชุดข้อมูลบนตัวเลขฐานสอง และนิยามคำจำกัดความของมโนสำนึกเกี่ยวกับความทรงจำและความเป็นเจ้าของความทรงจำขึ้นมาใหม่

นิทรรศการศิลปะ “The place of memories” สำรวจความสัมพันธ์ระหว่างข้อมูลแต่ละชุดซึ่งจัดเก็บอยู่บน “พื้นที่นามธรรม” เชื่อมโยงกันผ่านกิจกรรมต่างๆ ที่เกิดขึ้นขณะใช้งานบนโลกออนไลน์ โดย ทิวไพร บัวลอย, ธณวัฒน์ นุ่มเจริญ และ วัชรนนท์ สินวราวัฒน์ ศิลปินทั้ง 3 สร้างสรรค์ผลงานศิลปกรรมรูปแบบสื่อใหม่ (new media art) โดยใช้อุปกรณ์และเทคโนโลยีดิจิทัลเข้ามาเป็นวัตถุดิบหลักในกระบวนการทำงาน เพื่อค้นหาความเชื่อมโยงระหว่างตัวตนบนโลกดิจิทัลของตนเอง กลับไปหาชุดข้อมูลซึ่งเป็นส่วนหนึ่งของประสบการณ์และความทรงจำของศิลปิน สร้างตัวตนที่บิดเบี้ยว ขัดแย้งและไม่ลงรอยเป็นเนื้อเดียวกันกับตัวตนบนโลกกายภาพ นำไปสู่นิทรรศการในครั้งนี้ ที่ศิลปินได้สร้างนิยามความทรงจำของตนผ่านผลงานศิลปะร่วมสมัย

นิทรรศการ “The place of memories” เป็นส่วนหนึ่งของโครงการ Start! Art Curator เพื่อส่งเสริมภัณฑารักษ์รุ่นใหม่ให้ได้เรียนรู้การสร้างสรรค์นิทรรศการผ่านประสบการณ์ทำงานร่วมกันกับทีมงานมืออาชีพ

นิทรรศการ “The place of memories” จัดแสดงระหว่างวันที่ 24 เมษายน - 12 มิถุนายน พ.ศ. 2564 ณ ชั้น 3 อาคารหอศิลป์ (ตึกใหญ่) เอส เอ ซี แกลเลอรี (SAC Gallery) โดยมีพิธีเปิดนิทรรศการในวันที่ 30 เมษายน พ.ศ. 2564 ตั้งแต่เวลา 18:00 น. เป็นต้นไป
