Vipoo Srivilasa

Vipoo Srivilasa is a Thai-born Melbourne-based artist. Vipoo works predominantly in porcelain but also creates work on paper, mix media sculptures, bronze statues. He is interested in various aspects from immigrants who living with the cultural diversity in Australia. He is explored into each conversation from their experiences to his work and then reflected back in new conversations.

Vipoo has exhibited both internationally and throughout Australia, including Museum of Fine Arts, Boston; Saatchi Gallery, London; Ayala Museum, Philippines; Yingge Ceramics Museum, Taiwan; Nanjing Arts Institute, China and the National Gallery of Thailand. His work is held in national and international collections including the National Gallery of Australia, the Art Gallery of South Australia, GOMA, and the Craft Council, UK. Vipoo also awarded from various institutions within Thailand and Australia.

Vipoo has been awarded the 2021 Ceramic Artist of the Year by the editorial staff of Ceramics Monthly and Pottery Making Illustrated, The American Ceramic Society, USA. 

His work is a playful blend of European historical figurines and Asian decorative art practices with a healthy dose of contemporary culture... often exploring cross-cultural and migration experiences. As a Thai-born artist migrated permanently to Australia. A cross-cultural experience is in his blood and it is Vipoo's passion to share this experience with others. Cultural diversity helps him understand the conflicts and contradictions in race, religious and sexual discrimination from personal, regional and global points of view.

วิภู ศรีวิลาศ เป็นศิลปินเซรามิกชาวไทย ปัจจุบันอาศัยอยู่ที่ประเทศออสเตรเลีย ผลงานของวิภูเป็นการสร้างสรรค์ประติมากรรมจากสื่อและวัสดุรูปแบบต่างๆ มาผสมรวมเข้ากับการทำงานเซรามิก อาทิ สื่อผสม แก้ว บรอนซ์ และในช่วงหลังศิลปินให้ความสนใจบทสนทนาโต้ตอบในประเด็นต่างๆ ผ่านชิ้นงานเซรามิก โดยนำเอาบทสนทนาของคนในแต่ละพื้นที่ ที่อาศัยอยู่ร่วมกันบนความหลากหลายทางวัฒนธรรมมาเชื่อมโยงเข้ากับรูปทรงของผลงาน 

ผลงานของวิภูได้รับความสนใจและจัดแสดงนิทรรศการทั้งในระดับสากล จากประเทศออสเตรเลีย รวมถึงพิพิธภัณฑ์ศิลปะ อาทิ Museum of Fine Arts, Boston; Saatchi Gallery, London; Ayala Museum, Philippines; Yingge Ceramics Museum, Taiwan; Nanjing Arts Institute, China and the National Gallery of Thailand. และได้รับการสะสมจากองค์กรและสถาบันในต่างประเทศ อาทิ the National Gallery of Australia, the Art Gallery of South Australia, GOMA, and the Craft Council, UK รวมถึงได้รับรางวัลอีกมากมายตั้งในประเทศไทยและออสเตรเลีย

และในปี พ.ศ. 2564 วิภูยังได้รับรางวัลจาก Ceramic Artist of the Year โดยการคัดเลือกจาก Ceramics Monthly and Pottery Making Illustrated, The American Ceramic Society, USA.

ศิลปินสร้างสรรค์ผลงานด้วยเซรามิก ถ่ายทอดผ่านประติมากรรมพอร์ซเลนร่วมสมัยเพื่อสำรวจประสบการณ์แตกต่างระหว่างวัฒนธรรมและวัฒนธรรมข้ามชาติ ผลงานของเขาโดดเด่นด้วยความสนุกสนานมีชีวิตชีวาในการผสมผสานรูปลักษณ์อันสื่อเรื่องราวและบุคคลในประวัติศาสตร์กับความงามแบบศิลปะตกแต่งที่กลมกลื่นเข้ากับวัฒนธรรมร่วมสมัยอย่างลงตัว การย้ายถิ่นฐานถาวรไปอยู่ที่ประเทศออสเตรเลีย ทำให้เขาสนใจในประเด็นของความหลากหลายทางวัฒนธรรม ที่เต็มไปด้วยมิติของความทับซ้อน ภายใต้ประสบการณ์ดังกล่าวช่วยให้เขาเข้าใจถึงความหลากหลาย ความไม่ลงรอย และความขัดแย้งทางเชื้อชาติ ศาสนา รวมถึงอาชญากรรมทางเพศที่เกิดจากมุมมองของปัจเจกบุคคล ศาสนา และสากล
