Art Cart 07: The Graces (Charites)

In Greek mythology, the Charites are goddesses of charm, nature, human creativity, beauty, fertility and danger. Despite the fact that they were goddesses who were overlooked and worshipped by the Greek gods. However, they influenced numerous artists to create works of art such as Antonio Canova, Peter Paul Rubens, Sandro Botticelli etc. “Art Cart 07: The Graces (Charites)” is divided into three chapters.

The beauty of nature in the present that has disappeared, Chapter 1 “Thalia”, the routine that is repeated in the daily life of most people such as getting up, bathing, working, getting home, bathing, and going to bed. Working people have no time to look up at the sky because of their schedule. While the sky is a beautiful spot and may also bring edification or friends at a lonely moment. In the end, the best time to look at the sky would be just the weekend.

Chapter 2 “Euphrosyne”, the creative charm which is frequently ignored. Because nowadays, people are more concerned with the outer appearance or the benefits that it provides. This project wants the audience to see the process of working because there are many factors in the charm of creating a work that may be memories or conveying feelings.

The concept of this floor to an adventure, facing left to see the scenery when the sunlight can shine through, facing right to the sky that changes according to people’s feelings and the front is Bangkok 10 years ago, all this viewers’ vision will happen in Chapter 3 “Aglaea”, the fertility and danger. Viewer’s body standing on the ground It’s like a wild adventure in Bangkok but people get lost causing a feeling of volatility.

This project was selected according to the curator’s intentions who wants everyone to look back at the inside stories of the works as well as a group of people who are an important factor in the movement of things around us but they are always overlooked. Therefore, making the curator wants everyone to see the importance of this part. And on the other hand, it’s also encouraging for everyone through these difficult situations, hoping that “The Graces (Charites)” exhibition will make everyone relax and give another perspective on viewing art.  And hope that everyone will turn around and look at the things around them, whether they are objects or people.

A curated presentation “Art Cart 07: The Graces (Charites)” will be held on the first, second and third floor of Gallery Bldg., SAC Gallery from 24 June to 3 September 2022.

Charites เทพีแห่งความงาม เสน่ห์ ธรรมชาติ การสร้างสรรค์ การเจริญพันธุ์ และความอันตราย ตามตำนานเทพเจ้ากรีก แม้จะเป็นเทพีที่ถูกมองข้ามจากเหล่าเทพและการบูชาของชาวกรีก แต่ก็ยังเป็นแรงบันดาลใจให้กับศิลปินในการผลิตผลงานศิลปะอย่างมากมาย เช่น Antonio Canova, Peter Paul Rubens, Sandro Botticelli เป็นต้น โปรเจคนี้ถูกแบ่งออกเป็นสามบทด้วยกัน แบ่งตามชั้นของอาคารดังต่อไปนี้

ความสวยงามของธรรมชาติในปัจจุบันที่หายไป Chapter 1 ธาเลีย (Thalia) จากกิจวัตรที่ซ้ำเดิมในชีวิตประจำวันของคนส่วนใหญ่ คือ ตื่นนอน อาบน้ำ มาที่ทำงาน กลับบ้าน อาบน้ำ นอน ซึ่งด้วยกิจวัตรนี้ทำให้คนในวัยทำงานไม่มีเวลาแม้แต่นิดเดียวที่จะได้มองท้องฟ้า ทั้งที่ท้องฟ้านั้นเป็นความสวยงามที่เรามองได้ง่ายและยังให้ความจรรโลงใจหรือเป็นเพื่อนในเวลาเหงา สุดท้ายแล้วเวลาที่เหมาะสมที่สุดของการมองท้องฟ้าคงเป็นแค่วันหยุดสุดสัปดาห์

ใน Chapter 2 ยูโฟรซีน (Euphrosyne) ว่าด้วยเสน่ห์ในการสร้างสรรค์ซึ่งเป็นสิ่งที่คนมักมองข้ามออกไป เนื่องจากปัจจุบันคนมักมองเพียงรูปลักษณ์ภายนอกหรือประโยชน์ที่สิ่งนั้นมอบกลับมาให้กับตนเอง จึงอยากให้ผู้ชมได้เห็นถึงกระบวนการทำงาน ความจริงแล้วในเสน่ห์ของการสร้างสรรค์ผลงานขึ้นมามีหลายปัจจัยด้วยกันอาจจะเป็นความทรงจำหรือความรู้สึกที่ถ่ายทอดออกมา

การผจญภัยไปยังสถานที่ต่างๆ เมื่อหันหน้าไปทางซ้ายจะเจอทิวทัศน์ในยามที่แสงอาทิตย์สามารถส่องถึง หันขวาเป็นท้องฟ้าที่แปรปรวนตามความรู้สึกของคน และทางด้านหน้าเจอกับกรุงเทพใน 10 ปีที่แล้ว การมองเห็นทั้งหมดข้างต้นจะเกิดขึ้นใน Chapter 3 อะกลีอา (Aglaea) การเจริญพันธุ์และความอันตราย ตัวของผู้ชมขณะยืนอยู่กับพื้น เปรียบเสมือนการผจญภัยป่า ณ กรุงเทพมหานคร แต่ผู้คนกลับหลงทางทำให้เกิดความรู้สึกที่แปรปรวน

โปรเจคนี้ถูกคัดสรรตามความตั้งใจของภัณฑารักษ์ ที่อยากให้ทุกคนกลับมามองถึงเบื้องหลังของผลงาน รวมถึงกลุ่มคนที่เป็นฟันเฟืองตัวนึงในการขับเคลื่อนสิ่งต่างๆ ที่อยู่รอบตัวเราเสมอ แต่กลับถูกมองข้าม ภัณฑารักษ์จึงอยากให้ทุกคนมองเห็นถึงความสำคัญกับส่วนนี้เป็นอย่างมาก และในอีกแง่มุมหนึ่งก็ยังเป็นกำลังใจให้กับทุกคนผ่านพ้นวิกฤตสถานการณ์ที่ยากลำบาก โดยหวังว่า The Graces (Charites) จะให้ความผ่อนคลาย และให้มุมมองอีกด้านหนึ่งกับการดูงานศิลปะ และหวังว่าทุกคนจะหันกลับมามองสิ่งต่างๆ ที่อยู่รอบตัวไม่ว่าจะเป็นสิ่งของหรือบุคคล
