the end is now, now is here: The Exploration of Drawing

A group exhibition by Kanchalee Ngamdamronk, Jiratchaya Pripwai, Trinnapat Chaisitthisak, Surajate Tongchua, Sittikorn Khawsa-ad, Lalinthorn Phencharoen, Jarasporn Chumsri, Pichakorn Chukiew, Krit Ngamsom, Nut Sawasdee, Rungruang Sittirerk, Komkrit Tepthian, Alisa Chunchue, Prasert Yodkaew, Pakinee Sricharoensuk, Imhathai Suwatthanasilp, Pichai Pongsasaovapark, Surapong Sudasna na Ayudhya, Kitikun Mankit, Thidarat Chantachua, Weepapong Sansomporn and Jirawong Wongtrangan 

In the pass few years, Thai contemporary art is now gaining more interests from a younger generation artist as seen from their approach with ideals and techniques. It is also very interesting to be able to observe the directions in which the young artists are leading the Thai contemporary art scene. The world of art is now changing in the hands of the group and it is important to jot down their visions on the changing society.  

Whether they are experimenting on a newer technique to be able to express the contemporary subjects on this changing world to a ‘new normal’ normalness. It is impossible to ignore their opinions in artforms.  

Art competition stages and art awards are one key movement for Thai young artists is also a very important subject to pay attention to. BRANDNEW Project from Bangkok University to the Early Year Project by Bangkok Art and Culture Centre are very great example that play big role in being the platform for young artists to develop their practice to public. SAC Gallery has also been supporting young artists in providing support in developing the works.  

“the end is now, now is here: The exploration of drawing“ is an exhibition that is looking especially to the movement of young Thai artists and their directions of the Thai contemporary art world. We are also looking at where and how the Thai art world would fit in this new normal period.   

The exhibition “the end is now, now is here: The exploration of drawing” will be held on the first floor of Art Centre Bldg., SAC Gallery from 14 November 2020 until 5 January 2021. The official opening ceremony will be held on 14 November 2020, 1:00-6:00PM.

ช่วงหลายปีที่ผ่านมา ศิลปะร่วมสมัยในประเทศไทยเริ่มมีบรรยากาศของความกระตือรือร้นที่น่าสนใจมากขึ้นจากกลุ่มศิลปินรุ่นใหม่ ไม่ว่าจะเป็นวิธีคิดหรือเทคนิคที่พวกเขากำลังพัฒนากำลังแข็งแรงมากขึ้นในทุกๆ ขณะ การเดินทางอยู่บนประสบการณ์ และโอกาสทำให้เราต้องจับตามองความเคลื่อนไหวที่กำลังเข้ามาเป็นกำลังสำคัญของแวดวงศิลปะร่วมสมัยของไทย โดยเฉพาะวิสัยทัศน์ของคนรุ่นใหม่ที่มองผ่านสายตาของช่วงวัยที่กำลังกระตือรือร้น และเต็มไปด้วยคำถามที่น่าสนใจต่อสังคมและการเคลื่อนตัวของสุนทรียศาสตร์ 

ไม่ว่าจะเป็นการค้นคว้าทางเทคนิคที่สดใหม่ หรือเนื้อหาที่กำลังเข้มข้นด้วยประเด็นในสังคมร่วมสมัย สถานการณ์ที่หลายสิ่งหลายอย่างไม่เหมือนเดิมอีกต่อไป ปฏิเสธไม่ได้ว่าเราต้องพึ่งพามุมมองผ่านวัยของพวกเขาเพื่อให้สุนทรียภาพทางศิลปะได้ ขับเคลื่อนต่อไปอย่างมีพลวัตรและหลากหลาย  

นอกจากภาพความเคลื่อนไหวของศิลปินรุ่นใหม่จากเวทีประกวดสำคัญต่างๆ มาจนถึงเวทีที่คัดสรรศิลปินรุ่นใหม่ ซึ่งทำให้พวกเขาได้มีบทบาทสำคัญ ไม่ว่าจะเป็น BRANDNEW Art Project โดยหอศิลป์มหาวิทยาลัยกรุงเทพ หรือ BACC Early Years Project ที่ผลักดันโดย หอศิลปวัฒนธรรมแห่งกรุงเทพมหานคร ทั้งสองกล่าวได้ว่าเป็นเวทีสำคัญที่ร่วมผลักดันศิลปินหน้าใหม่ให้ได้แสดงศักยภาพ และยังมีอิทธิพลอยู่ ณ ปัจจุบัน ดังนี้ เอส เอ ซี แกลเลอรี ในฐานะหอศิลป์ที่ต้องการผลักดันศิลปินไทยที่มีศักยภาพ ต่างรุ่น ต่างวัย ให้มีพื้นที่แสดงออกอย่างต่อเนื่องจึงมีจุดประสงค์ให้การเปิดพื้นที่ และร่วมผลักดันศิลปินรุ่นใหม่เหล่านี้ให้มีการเคลื่อนไหวต่อเนื่องผ่านมุมมองและการคัดสรรของภัณฑารักษ์ด้วยเช่นกัน 

ศิลปินรุ่นใหม่เหล่านี้คือผู้มีส่วนร่วมในการจัดวางทิศทางใหม่ในสังคมศิลปะ ด้วยวิธีการมองโลกจากช่วงวัยของเขาผ่านการทำงานศิลปะ หรืออีกนัยหนึ่งการสร้างสรรค์งานศิลปะจะสามารถบอกทิศทางของโลกใหม่ที่กำลังจะมาถึง “the end is now, now is here: The exploration of drawing“ คือนิทรรศการที่รวมเอาศิลปินรุ่นใหม่ที่น่าจับตามอง ที่จะต้องเอาตัวรอดในแวดวงและอาชีพศิลปินท่ามกลางสภาวะการณ์ปกติแบบใหม่ ศิลปินกลุ่มนี้จะเป็นผู้วิเคราะห์ วิจารณ์ ตั้งคำถาม หาทางเลือกและทางรอดต่อสถานการณ์ในโลกร่วมสมัยที่เราต่างกำลังเผชิญอยู่  

นิทรรศการ “the end is now, now is here: The exploration of drawing” จัดแสดงระหว่างวันที่ 14 พฤศจิกายน พ.ศ. 2563 - 5 มกราคม พ.ศ. 2564 ณ ชั้น 1 อาคารหอศิลป์ (ตึกใหญ่) เอส เอ ซี แกลเลอรี (SAC Gallery) โดยมีพิธีเปิดนิทรรศการในวันที่ 14 พฤศจิกายน พ.ศ. 2563 ตั้งแต่เวลา 13:00-18:00 น. เป็นต้นไป
